It's Not Okay

The following is a guest post from one of our id-minded readers, The Rantin' Granny:

Tell me, moms, why are so many of you asking your children for permission to do things? When I was a young mother, many years ago, I told my children what they needed to do and they did it. What I did not do was say, "You need to put your coat on, okaaaayyy?" Or, "Time to put your toys away, okaaaayyy?" Or, "We are going to go home in five minutes, okaaaaayyy?" What is going on, moms? Is there going to be a whole generation of kids who think they need to be consulted about everything? Let me give you some advice, stop asking your kids if it's okay for them to do what is expected. If you need to know if they hear you and are paying attention, ask them exactly that.

So, moms, does this sound like you?  If so, then please, do something about it, okaaaayyy?
